Thank you for following The Anointed Pen: Writing as a Sacred Call for Kingdom Influence series.
I truly appreciate you for joining me on this journey to uncover the significance of being a Kingdom writer.
Our focus for this month of August is: “The Writer’s Heart: Building Character for Kingdom Impact”
And as we wrap up this month’s topic today, we will examine: Distractions, Delays, and Destiny: Staying Focused on the Call
Every divine assignment carries weight, urgency, and eternal impact. When God calls a person to write, teach, lead, or pioneer, He does not just release an idea, He entrusts a mandate. But with every mandate comes opposition.
Two of the most subtle weapons the enemy uses against kingdom writers and leaders are distraction and delay.
The Subtle Power of Distraction
Distractions rarely appear as obvious threats. They come clothed in what seems urgent, entertaining, or even “good.” For a kingdom writer, distraction can look like endless scrolling, unnecessary projects, or even pouring energy into assignments that are not truly yours.
The danger is not always sin, it’s substitution. When the enemy cannot lure you into rebellion, he will try to lure you into busyness. And busyness, without focus, drains the oil of your assignment.
Nehemiah understood this well. When summoned by Sanballat and Tobiah, he answered firmly: “I am doing a great work and cannot come down” Nehemiah 6:3. That is the cry of a focused servant unavailable for anything that interrupts destiny.
The Weight of Delay
Delay is often born from distraction but also from fear, doubt, or procrastination. Many visions remain on paper because the writer keeps waiting for “the perfect time.” But waiting for the perfect time often means no time at all.
Consider Moses: forty years passed in the desert before God reignited his call. Yet when the moment came, Moses hesitated, offering excuses. Delay steals momentum, and when unchecked, it can make us spectators of our own destiny.
Destiny Demands Focus
Destiny does not unfold by accident. It is stewarded with intentional focus. Paul declared: “This one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” Philippians 3:13. Notice the discipline “this one thing I do”. Destiny requires the courage to prioritize, to let go of distractions, and to overcome delays with obedience.
For the anointed writer, this means scheduling sacred writing hours, guarding your mind from noise, and treating your words as an altar where God speaks. Your call is too weighty to be casual with.
Staying Anchored in the Call
How do you remain focused when distractions and delays whisper at every corner?
-
Discern the voice of urgency vs. the voice of purpose. Not everything urgent is divine.
-
Set holy boundaries. Protect your time, your energy, and your focus as sacred.
-
Write in obedience, not convenience. If God has put a word in your spirit, steward it with urgency.
-
Pray for divine acceleration. Where delay has stolen time, God can redeem the years.
Final Charge
Every distraction resisted, every delay overcome, is a step closer to your destiny. The anointed pen must remain sharp, guarded from compromise, guided by the Spirit, and grounded in the call. Your words carry life, healing, and freedom. Do not let them be silenced by diversion or hesitation.
Stay focused. Destiny awaits.
Thank you for reading till the end.
I will see you next week by God’s grace
If you have been blessed, please share, I will be glad you did.
