The Envious Eye vs. the Single Eye: Keeping Vision Clear in Writing for God

Thank you for following The Anointed Pen: Writing as a Sacred Call for Kingdom Influence series.

I truly appreciate you for joining me on this journey to uncover the significance of being a Kingdom writer.

Our focus for this month of September is: The Anointed Pen and the Poison of Envy and our topic for this week is:

The Envious Eye vs. the Single Eye: Keeping Vision Clear in Writing for God

The anointing upon the pen is not just about eloquence or mastery of words; it is about clarity of vision. When the Lord Jesus said, “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light” Matthew 6:22 KJV, He revealed a principle that applies to every Kingdom writer. The purity of your inner gaze affects the purity of your outward expression.

But when the eye is clouded by envy, the anointing on the pen suffers. Envy pollutes writing. It makes the hand heavy and the flow disjointed. It turns the tongue of the writer into a stammering pen, words may come forth, but they stumble, distort, and lose their colour because the gaze has shifted from God to man.

An envious pen cannot carry the weight of divine revelation. Instead of being a vessel of light, it becomes a vessel of comparison, subtly echoing the voice of jealousy. The writer may still attempt to produce, but their words are tainted distorted and discoloured because the eye is not single.

When you cast your gaze on your brother or sister’s life, their achievements, or their platform, you unknowingly slip into envy, and your pen begins to stutter. Instead of writing from the well of revelation, you begin to write from the well of reaction. Your words cease to be rivers of life and become mere ripples of competition.

Envy also leaves you exposed and uncovered. The covering of the Spirit rests upon the pure in heart. But when the heart harbours envy, you step out from that covering and become vulnerable to negativity, bitterness, and distraction. An envious Kingdom writer is a distracted writer, and a distracted writer cannot steward divine mysteries with accuracy.

The single eye, however, keeps the pen sharp. A single eye is focused on Christ alone, on His commission, on His assignment. It guards the heart against the poison of comparison and keeps the flow of revelation pure. With a single eye, your writing becomes light, clear, radiant, and illuminating to those who read it.

If you desire to write for God with accuracy, guard your gaze. Keep your eyes single. Do not be lured into glancing at another’s portion, lest your words become stammering lines instead of rivers of life. The Kingdom needs scribes who write with vision unclouded, pens unsullied, and hearts untainted.

For the eye that is single will keep the pen anointed.

Decrees for the Anointed Pen

  1. Clarity of Vision
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” (Matthew 6:22 KJV)
I decree that my eyes remain single fixed on Christ and my writing flows with clarity and divine light.

  2. Freedom from Envy
“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3:16 KJV
I decree that envy shall have no place in me. My pen will not be polluted by comparison, but will release pure streams of wisdom.

  3. Purity and Covering
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8 KJV)
I decree that my heart remains pure, my vision remains clear, and my words remain covered under the anointing of God.

Thank you for reading till the end.
I will see you next week by God’s grace!
If you have been blessed, please share, I will be glad you did.
