Thank you for following The Anointed Pen: Writing as a Sacred Call for Kingdom Influence series.
I truly appreciate you for joining me on this journey to uncover the significance of being a Kingdom writer.
Our focus for this month of August is: “The Writer’s Heart: Building Character for Kingdom Impact”and in today’s article, I will be sharing on:
Winning the Inner Battles: Pride, Fear, and the Need for Validation
Every Kingdom writer is first a vessel before becoming a voice. The pages we produce are not merely ink on paper; they are outflows of the heart. Yet the greatest battles for a Kingdom writer are often not external; lack of resources, low readership, or the slow growth of platforms but internal.
These battles are fought in the quiet corners of the soul: pride, fear, and the insatiable need for validation.
1. Pride in Visibility
Writing for God’s Kingdom often places us in the public eye. A message anointed by the Spirit can touch many lives, but visibility comes with temptation. Pride whispers, “Look at what you have done. See how many people are quoting you. Your name is growing.”
But the anointed pen must remember: it is not the writer who gives life to words but the Spirit of God. David reminds us, “Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness” Psalm 115:1.
When we keep our focus on God’s glory rather than human applause, our writing remains pure, and our hearts stay free from the corruption of pride.
2. Fear of Judgment
Another battle is fear: the hesitation that comes when we wonder what others will think. “What if they misunderstand me? What if I’m criticized?”
This fear can silence a writer before the words ever reach the page. Yet Paul reminds Timothy, “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline” 2 Timothy 1:7.
The Kingdom writer must write in obedience, not in fear of men. When our words are aligned with Scripture and led by the Spirit, we can release them boldly, trusting that God Himself will defend His message.
3. The Craving for Validation
Every human heart desires affirmation. But when the craving for validation drives a writer, the gift becomes corrupted. Instead of stewarding the message, the writer begins to chase likes, shares, and praise.
Jesus Himself warned, “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven” Matthew 6:1
Validation must come first from the Father, not from men. A Kingdom writer’s greatest satisfaction is hearing heaven’s “Well done.”
4. Stewarding the Gift Without Ego
How then can we steward this sacred call?
-
Cultivate humility: Constantly remind yourself that the message belongs to God. You are only the scribe.
-
Embrace boldness: Write with confidence, not in self-assurance but in assurance of the One who sends you.
-
Seek purity of motive: Before publishing, ask: “Am I writing to glorify Christ or myself?”
When these inner battles are won, the pen becomes light, free from ego, and anointed to build lives and glorify God.
Charge
Every Kingdom writer is on a journey. The world may measure success by platforms, but God measures it by obedience. When you conquer pride, fear, and the hunger for validation, your words become pure streams of living water; refreshing, healing, and eternal.
Prayer: Lord, purify my heart as Your scribe. Deliver me from pride, fear, and the need for validation. May my words always exalt You and bring life to those who read them. Amen.
Thank you for reading till the end.
I will see you next week by God’s grace!
If you have been blessed, please share, I will be glad you did.
